A consignment of 3 million eggs imported from India is expected to arrive in Sri Lanka by the end of this week. Asiri Walisundara, Chairman of the Sri Lanka State Trading Corporation (STC), confirmed that the procurement process has been completed, and applications for the import have been submitted to the Department of Animal Production and Health (DAPH) for approval.
Walisundara further noted that once the eggs are available, they will likely be sold at an estimated price of around Rs. 40 per egg.
