The Department of Posts has received 80% of the postal ballot papers, according to Senior Deputy Postmaster General Rajitha K. Ranasinghe. The ballot papers, which have already been cast, have been securely packaged and will be sent to the returning officers.
Postal voters who have not yet cast their votes will have the opportunity to do so on September 11 and 12 at election offices in the districts where their workplaces are located.
This year, 712,319 state sector employees were eligible to cast postal votes.
