The Department of Posts has announced that 95 percent of the postal ballot papers for the upcoming presidential election have been distributed. Senior Deputy Postmaster General Rajitha Ranasinghe stated that only a small number of ballot papers designated for military bases are yet to be delivered, and these will be dispatched tomorrow.
A total of 712,318 state sector employees are eligible to vote by post in 2024, with the highest number of eligible voters—76,977—residing in the Kurunegala district. The postal voting for the 2024 presidential election is scheduled for September 4, 5, and 6.
