The All Ceylon Egg Producers Association has announced that eggs will be sold at retail prices between Rs. 30 and Rs. 35 during the upcoming festive season.
Chairman Anton Appuhamy urged all retailers to keep prices below Rs. 35, effective from today.
Reflecting on the previous year, Appuhamy noted that during the 2023 festive season, eggs were sold at Rs. 65-70. However, due to increased production levels, prices have now stabilized.
He further stated that egg farmers currently have a surplus of stock, ensuring ample supply for the season.
Consumers can expect to purchase:
- 50g eggs at Rs. 30-32
- Eggs heavier than 55g at Rs. 33-35
The price drop comes as a relief to households preparing for the festive season.
