Health Ministry Takes Swift Action: Aflatoxin-Contaminated Chilies from Pakistan Set for Re-Export

The Ministry of Health has initiated immediate measures to re-export a shipment of chilies from Pakistan due to the presence of aflatoxin, a harmful substance.

An official from the Food Control Administration Unit of the Ministry of Health disclosed that among the exported items, 25 containers contained the affected chilies. These chilies had been imported by a group of Sri Lankan businessmen.

Simultaneously, the Food Control Administration Unit of the Ministry of Health has introduced a dedicated telephone number for reporting issues related to food quality. This proactive step aims to enhance public awareness and engagement in ensuring the safety of the food supply chain.
