SriLankan Airlines Revolutionizes Travel Experience with Self-Service Check-In and Bag Drop at BIA

In a groundbreaking move, SriLankan Airlines has introduced self-service check-in and self-bag-drop services at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake, aiming to redefine the travel experience and minimize waiting times during peak periods.

According to a statement from SriLankan Airlines, this initiative empowers passengers to independently complete the entire check-in process, including flight check-in, seat selection, and the printing of boarding passes and bag tags. The self-bag-drop facility allows travelers to swiftly drop off their luggage, streamlining the process and enabling them to proceed directly to the boarding gates after emigration clearance.

This innovative venture aligns with SriLankan Airlines’ comprehensive digitalization strategy, contributing to the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Fast Travel initiative, which aims to enhance the overall travel experience.

As a result, SriLankan Airlines now stands as a regional pioneer in adopting self-service technologies for international travel, marking a significant step forward in the evolution of air travel services.
