The Cabinet has granted approval to set a price of Rs. 9,000 for a pack of Muriate of Potash (MoP) fertilizer, commonly known as ‘Bundi Pohora.’ Agriculture Minister Mahinda Amaraweera revealed that the previous selling price for a pack of MoP fertilizer was over Rs. 19,000.
This decision by the Cabinet aims to significantly reduce the cost burden on farmers, making essential agricultural inputs more affordable. The revised pricing strategy is expected to contribute to the sustainable development of the agricultural sector by promoting accessibility to crucial fertilizers such as MoP.
