China Announces 25% Reduction in Inbound Travel Visa Fees to Boost Foreign Tourism

China, on Friday, revealed its decision to temporarily reduce fees for inbound travel visas by 25%, signaling a concerted effort to attract a higher influx of foreign tourists.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China confirmed that this cost-cutting measure will be applicable across all of China’s overseas embassies and consulates, beginning from December 11, 2023, and extending until December 31, 2024.

Expressing openness to initiatives that facilitate cross-border travel, China emphasized its commitment to collaborating with relevant countries to establish favorable conditions and offer enhanced convenience for seamless cross-border journeys.

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, Wang Wenbin, conveyed China’s positive stance, stating, “China welcomes measures aimed at facilitating cross-border travel.” He highlighted that this decision follows China’s implementation of stringent COVID-19 management measures, specifically targeted at Class-B infectious diseases, starting from January 8, 2023.
