Acting IGP Deshabandu Tennakoon Initiates Specialized Unit for Investigating Religious Hate Crimes on Social Media

In a proactive move, Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) Deshabandu Tennakoon has directed the Police Computer Crimes Division to establish a specialized unit dedicated to investigating religious hate crimes originating from social media platforms.

This strategic initiative aims to address the growing concern of religious hate crimes propagated through online channels. The specialized unit will be equipped to scrutinize and respond promptly to incidents involving hate speech and religious intolerance on social media platforms.
