The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has officially accepted responsibility for the recent island-wide power outage. In a presentation before the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) regarding the outage, CEB officials acknowledged their role in the disruption.
Professor Manjula Fernando, Chairman of the PUCSL, stated that the commission will convene to discuss the next steps in response to the presentation made by the CEB.
The island-wide blackout occurred on December 9th due to a lightning strike on the critical Kotmale-Biyagama transmission line. The acknowledgment of responsibility by the CEB provides transparency about the incident and sets the stage for further deliberations on addressing and preventing similar disruptions in the future.
