The accord between the Government of Sri Lanka and the Government of Türkiye, aimed at the Elimination of Double Taxation concerning Taxes on Income and the Prevention of Tax Evasion and Avoidance, has officially come into effect.
This significant agreement was formally signed on January 28, 2023, during the official visit of then-Foreign Minister of Türkiye, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, to Sri Lanka. Following the completion of internal requirements in both countries, the agreement officially took effect on December 11, 2023.
As Sri Lanka and Türkiye commemorate 75 years of diplomatic relations this year, the implementation of this agreement marks yet another milestone in their bilateral ties. The agreement is anticipated to yield mutual benefits for the citizens of both nations, strengthening the foundation of their longstanding diplomatic relationship.
