During a meeting with Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa and members of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB), Japanese Minister of Finance Shun’ichi Suzuki and his delegation emphasized the importance of Sri Lanka settling the expenses incurred in the initial phase of the Light Rail Transit (LRT) project, which is currently under consideration for cancellation. SJB MP Harsha De Silva conveyed that the visiting Japanese Minister stressed the necessity for Sri Lanka to complete the debt restructuring process.
Additionally, Minister Suzuki cautioned against actions that could potentially jeopardize the International Monetary Fund (IMF) program, highlighting the significance of maintaining a favorable relationship with the international financial institution.
