President Ranil Wickremesinghe has appointed a Steering Committee to spearhead his campaign for the upcoming Presidential election. The committee will be chaired by the esteemed President’s Counsel Ronald Perera, who currently serves as the Chairman of the Bank of Ceylon (BOC).
Other notable members of the committee include Lasantha Gunawardena, Colombo District Manager of the United National Party (UNP), Shamal Senarath, Executive Director of Sirikotha (the UNP Headquarters), and Krishan Theodor, a Working Committee member of the party.
The primary responsibilities assigned to the Ronald Perera Committee include coordinating with other political parties supporting Mr. Wickremesinghe and overseeing propaganda activities for the campaign.
As the leader of the UNP, President Wickremesinghe has provided guidance to the committee, instructing them to identify a suitable venue for the mobilization of his election campaign and to formulate a comprehensive management plan for the entire campaign.
Reports suggest that additional groups will also be appointed by the President to collaborate closely with the committee in the pursuit of campaign objectives.
