ICC World Cup prize money revealed: Champion team to receive USD 4 million

The 13th edition of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup will kick off on October 5 with a repeat of the 2019 Final as defending champion England will take on runner-up New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The winner of this mega event featuring 10-teams will earn US$4 million, along with the coveted trophy on 19th November.

The runners-up will receive US$2 million, while the losing semi-finalists will get $800,000 each from the total prize pot of US$10 million. The 48-match event will be played across 10 venues from 5 October, as per statment released on ICC Cricket website.

The winners of each match in the group stage will receive US$40,000 and the six teams that do not qualify for the semi-finals will receive a payment of US$100,000.

The much-awaited schedule of the Men’s ODI Cricket World Cup 2023 was released just 100 days before the commencement of the marquee tournament, unlike in the earlier editions where the schedule was revealed an year earlier.

The tournament will be played over 46 days with the final match scheduled on November 19 at Ahmedabad.

The venues for the most celebrated cricket tournament include: Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Dharamsala, Delhi, Chennai, Lucknow, Pune, Bengaluru, Mumbai and Kolkata.

Guwahati and Thiruvananthapuram along with Hyderabad will host the warm-up matches from 29 September to 3 October.
