April 15 Declared Public Holiday by State Ministry of Home Affairs

The State Ministry of Home Affairs has officially declared April 15 as a public (government) holiday for all state employees, announced Ministry Secretary Pradeep Yasarathna today.

Yasarathna informed the Daily Mirror that the decision was made due to the National Oil Anointing Ceremony occurring on Monday, April 15.

Earlier, State Minister of Home Affairs Ashoka Priyantha mentioned that numerous requests had been received from both state officials and the public to designate April 15 as a public holiday, in light of the upcoming Sinhala and Tamil New Year festivities.
