Continued Showery Conditions Expected in South-Western Sri Lanka

The Department of Meteorology reports that prevailing showery conditions are expected to persist in the south-western part of the island today.

Showers or thundershowers are anticipated at various times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, and Southern provinces, with several spells of showers likely in the North-western province as well.

Very heavy showers, exceeding 150 mm, are expected in some areas within the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as in the Galle and Matara districts.

Showers or thundershowers may also occur in several other areas across the island.

The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
