Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe has established a specialized committee to tackle salary disparities within the government service.

Chaired by former presidential secretary Udaya Seneviratne, the committee comprises distinguished members, including Director General of the National Budget Department S.D.J. Nilukshan, Director General of the Management Services Department Hiransa Kaluthantri, Director General of Combined Services S. Aloka Bandara, Director General of Institutions H.A. Chandana Kumarasinghe, along with Dr. Terence Gamini de Silva, Duminda Hulangamuwa, Chandi H. Dharmaratne, and Isuru Thilakawardena.

Presidential Additional Secretary Vernon Perera serves as the committee’s secretary.

The committee’s mandate includes a thorough examination of salary anomalies across various employee groups within the public service. Its findings will inform potential revisions to salaries, wages, and other provisions in all sectors, to be included in the 2025 budget. This pivotal task has been entrusted to the Expert Committee.

In adherence to the President’s directive, the committee is tasked with submitting its recommendations report within three months.
