Dengue Cases in 2024 Surpass 27,000 Mark, Warn Sri Lankan Health Officials

The tally of dengue cases recorded for 2024 has exceeded 27,000, according to the Epidemiology Unit.

As of June 21, a total of 27,197 cases have been reported this year, with the Colombo district accounting for the highest number at 6,013.

The Western Province leads among provinces with 10,139 cases recorded. June alone has seen 2,277 new cases of Dengue.

Following heavy rainfall across Sri Lanka in recent weeks, health officials are urging the public to maintain cleanliness in their surroundings and eliminate mosquito breeding sites to prevent dengue outbreaks.
