Weather Advisory: Heavy Rainfall and Strong Winds Forecasted Across Sri Lanka

The Department of Meteorology has issued a weather advisory predicting significant rainfall and strong winds in various regions of the country over the next few days.

According to the advisory, several areas within the Western and Sabaragamuwa Provinces, as well as the Galle and Matara districts, are expected to experience fairly heavy showers exceeding 50mm.

Intermittent showers are also forecasted for the Western and Sabaragamuwa Provinces, along with the Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle, and Matara districts. Additionally, showers or thundershowers may develop in the Uva Province, Ampara, and Batticaloa districts during the evening or night.

The Department further cautioned about strong winds ranging from 40-50 kmph, particularly over the Western slopes of the central hills and in the Northern, North-Central, and North-Western Provinces. These winds are likely to impact the Trincomalee and Hambantota districts as well.
