Red Warning Issued for Strong Winds and Rough Seas in Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal

The Department of Meteorology has issued a ‘Red’ warning for strong winds and rough seas for naval and multi-day fishing communities in the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal.

According to the warning, very strong winds of 70-80 km/h and very rough seas are likely over the Arabian Sea (in sea areas bounded by 10N – 20N and 55E – 75E) and the Bay of Bengal (in sea areas bounded by 12N – 17N and 83E – 93E) due to active southwest monsoonal conditions.

Naval and fishing communities are advised not to venture into the sea areas marked in red on the map below until further notice.

Those already in the affected sea regions are advised to return to the coast or move to safer areas immediately.

Naval and fishing communities are also requested to stay updated with future forecasts issued by the Department of Meteorology.
