Red Advisory Issued for Strong Winds and Rough Seas in Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal

The Department of Meteorology has issued a ‘Red’ color advisory warning of strong winds and rough seas affecting naval and multi-day fishing communities in the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal.

According to the advisory, very strong winds reaching speeds of 70-80 km/h and extremely rough seas are expected in the following areas:

  • Arabian Sea: Sea areas bounded by 10°N to 23°N and 55°E to 72°E
  • Bay of Bengal: Sea areas bounded by 13°N to 21°N and 87°E to 93°E

These conditions are due to the active southwest monsoon.

Naval and fishing communities are strongly advised to avoid these marked ‘Red’ sea areas until further notice. Those currently in these regions should return to shore or move to safer locations immediately.

The Department of Meteorology urges all affected parties to stay updated with future forecasts for further information and guidance.
