Sri Lanka Election Commission Clarifies Voting Procedure Changes

The Election Commission of Sri Lanka has addressed confusion surrounding recent changes to voting procedures, clarifying its stance on allowing voting at locations other than designated polling stations.

In an extraordinary gazette notification dated July 26, the Election Commission officially acknowledged that voters who have a reasonable fear of being unable to cast their ballots at their assigned polling stations can request to vote at an alternative location.

Director General of the Election Commission, Saman Ratnayake, refuted false reports and emphasized the NEC’s commitment to ensuring accurate information dissemination.
