Sri Lankan athlete Tharushi Karunaratne’s campaign in the Women’s 800m event at the Paris Olympics concluded after she finished 7th in Heat 4 of the Repechage round.
The 19-year-old clocked a time of 2:06.66 in this round.
Karunaratne had initially competed in the preliminary round of the event on the night of August 2, where she finished 8th with a time of 2:07.76. Due to her 8th-place finish, she did not advance directly to the next round.
The repechage round, introduced for the first time in Olympic athletics history at the 2024 Games, offers a second chance for runners who did not advance from the first round.
