The Meteorology Department has forecast showers at times in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as in the Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle, and Matara districts.
Several spells of showers are also expected in the North-Western province.
Showers or thundershowers may occur in several other areas of the island during the evening or night, with fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 50mm likely in some locations.
The general public is kindly advised to take appropriate precautions to minimize damage from temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
