Concerns Raised Over Misuse of State Resources in Upcoming Presidential Election

Concerns about the misuse of state resources and power in the upcoming presidential election have been voiced by two prominent organizations.

The People’s Action for Free and Fair Elections (PAFFREL) has reported ongoing issues with the use of state property and power in relation to the election. Rohana Hettiarachchi, Executive Director of PAFFREL, revealed that a total of 148 cases have been documented so far.

Similarly, the Institute for Democratic Reforms and Election Studies has raised concerns about the misuse of public resources and the deployment of public officials to support presidential candidates. Manjula Gajanayake, Executive Director of the institute, reported receiving 120 complaints to date.
