Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Thalatha Athukorala has announced her resignation from her position as a Member of Parliament, as stated in her address to Parliament today (21).
Athukorala, who is the sister of the late United National Party (UNP) politician Gamini Athukorala, began her parliamentary career in 2004. She was re-elected in the general elections of 2010, 2015, and 2020, representing the Ratnapura District.
In the 2020 general election, she retained her seat as an SJB member, receiving 45,105 votes from the Ratnapura District.
