Meteorology Department Issues “Amber” Alert for Heavy Rain, Strong Winds, and Rough Seas in West-central Bay of Bengal

The Department of Meteorology has issued an “Amber” level advisory for heavy rain, strong winds, and rough seas in the West-central Bay of Bengal, specifically affecting multi-day boats operating in deep sea areas.

In its advisory, the department stated that the depression over the West-central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal crossed the North Andhra Pradesh and adjoining south Odisha coasts of India earlier this morning (01).

The Met. Department further indicated that the depression is likely to weaken into a low-pressure area within the next 24 hours.

Naval and fishing communities are advised to exercise caution while engaging in activities in the affected sea areas.
