Sri Lankan Ambassador in Israel Urges Nationals to Exercise Caution Amid Recent Attacks

Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Israel has urged Sri Lankan nationals residing in the country to exercise caution following recent shelling and rocket attacks from the Lebanon-based militant group Hezbollah targeting Israel.

Hezbollah launched a fresh barrage of strikes into northern Israel, affecting areas including Haifa, Galilee, Golan, and Nazareth, just one day after Israeli airstrikes on Hezbollah in Lebanon resulted in nearly 500 fatalities and 1,600 injuries.

In addition, debris from interceptions by Israel’s Iron Dome defense system has caused fires in dry forest areas.

In light of these developments, Ambassador Nimal Bandara has advised Sri Lankans in Israel to remain vigilant regarding these intermittent attacks. He emphasized the importance of moving to the nearest safety shelters for protection whenever alarms signaling such attacks are activated, particularly for Sri Lankans employed in northern regions of the country.
