The Department of Meteorology has forecast several spells of showers for the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-Western provinces, as well as the Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle, and Matara districts.
Additionally, showers or thundershowers may occur in the Uva province and in the Ampara and Batticaloa districts during the evening or night.
Strong winds, reaching speeds of 40-45 kmph, are expected at times over the western slopes of the central hills and in the Northern, North-Central, North-Western, and Southern provinces, as well as in the Trincomalee, Matale, and Monaragala districts.
The public is urged to take adequate precautions to minimize damage from localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
