Kristalina Georgieva, the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), has expressed her confidence that the leadership of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake will pave the way for stability, prosperity, and inclusive growth in Sri Lanka.

In a congratulatory letter to the newly elected president, Georgieva emphasized the IMF’s appreciation for the excellent engagement it has maintained with Sri Lanka over the years. She assured Dissanayake that the IMF remains a steadfast partner, ready to assist the nation in achieving its development and reform objectives, particularly under the ongoing IMF-supported program.

Georgieva conveyed her eagerness to collaborate with Dissanayake and his team to build on the hard-won gains that have placed Sri Lanka on a path to recovery following one of its most severe economic crises. She also expressed her desire to deepen the mutually beneficial relationship between the IMF and Sri Lanka.
