Over 140 million rupees worth of medical, surgical and laboratory equipment from the Ministry of Health to the National Eye Hospital

Taking measures to develop the physical resources of the independent health service in Sri Lanka, with the goal of providing quality health care to the people, the Ministry of Health symbolically handed over 140 million rupees worth of medical, surgical and laboratory equipment to the National Eye Hospital. It was done in the hospital auditorium.

State-of-the-art Slit Lamps among these medical, surgical and laboratory equipment – 05 Nos, Visual Field Analyser, Phaco Machine, Surgeon Stools, Multipara Monitors, Anaesthetic Machine, Specialized Operation Theater Table and Laboratory Equipment under Automated Slide Stainer, Cytospin Machine, Tissue Processor .

Here Introducing the book for collecting patient data under the initial process of computerizing patient data at the National Eye Hospital and inaugurating the project of providing eye glasses to low-income patients under the financial allocation of 6.5 million rupees from the Ministry of Health, symbolically 25 patients suffering from low-income eye disorders Spectacles were provided.

Health Secretary Expert Dr. Palitha Mahipala said that the provision of more than 140 million rupees worth of medical, surgical and laboratory equipment will help to improve the quality of the treatment services provided by the eye hospital. He added that financial allocations have been made for the repairs of the hospital and that the surgery complex consisting of 03 floors and 06 operating theaters will be able to be constructed in a very short period of time. He also said that eye services in Sri Lanka have been evaluated nationally and internationally.

On this occasion, former Additional Secretary Dr. Sunil De Alwis, former Deputy Director General (Laboratory Services) Dr. Sudath Dharmaratne , Deputy Director General of Biomedical Supply Division, Phesipriya Karunaratne , Director of Colombo National Eye Hospital A.R.M Taufik , Deputy of National Eye Hospital A group of health staff, including director specialist Dr. Jayaruwan Bandara, eye surgeons , doctors and nurses were present.
