The Department of Meteorology has issued a severe lightning advisory for several provinces and districts. Thundershowers accompanied by intense lightning are expected in parts of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, Central, Uva, and North-Western provinces, as well as in the Ampara, Batticaloa, and Polonnaruwa districts.
The advisory also warns of temporary localized strong winds during these thundershowers. The public is urged to take necessary precautions to minimize the risk of lightning-related damage.
