All Ceylon Egg Producers Association Blames Intermediaries for Egg Price Hike, Calls for Government Intervention

The All Ceylon Egg Producers Association has attributed the recent surge in egg prices to intermediaries who are artificially creating a shortage by hoarding eggs.

The price of an egg, which previously ranged between Rs. 28 and Rs. 30, has now risen sharply to Rs. 40 in the local market.

The Association emphasized that the price hike is a direct result of intermediaries’ actions and urged the government to investigate these entities. It also suggested that with government intervention and a reduction in prices, eggs could be sold at Rs. 30.

The Association called on the government to take immediate steps to address the issue and bring down the price of eggs.
