Arjuna Herath Appointed as New Chairman of Sri Lanka’s Board of Investment

Arjuna Herath has been named the new Chairman of the Board of Investment (BOI) of Sri Lanka, bringing decades of experience across various industries and regulatory bodies to the role.

Herath previously served as Senior Partner and Head of Consulting at Ernst & Young (EY) for Sri Lanka and the Maldives, and was the former Chairman of the Sri Lanka Personal Data Protection Authority. He currently sits on the Board of Directors of the Colombo Stock Exchange, further solidifying his expertise in finance and regulation.

His extensive experience includes serving as a Board Member of the Sri Lanka Accounting and Auditing Standards Monitoring Board and as a Commissioner of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka. Herath’s corporate leadership roles span positions such as Marketing Development Manager at Ceylon Tobacco Company and Director of Corporate Finance at the Merchant Bank of Sri Lanka.

A Senior Chartered Accountant and Past President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, Herath has made significant contributions to the accounting profession globally. He has held key international positions, including Past President of the South Asian Federation of Accountants, Board Member of the Confederation of Asia Pacific Accountants, and Chairman of the Professional Accountancy Organization Development Committee of the International Federation of Accountants.
