Australia-Sri Lanka Business Council Organizes Sri Lanka Tourism Forum

Consul General of Sri Lanka in Melbourne Sandith Samarasinghe participated as the guest speaker in the Sri Lanka Tourism Forum organized by the Australia-Sri Lanka Business Council on 26 September 2023 at the Manningham Hotel, Melbourne. The function saw the participation of over 50 numbers of travel agents, tour operators, hoteliers, investors and interested parties to promote inbound tourism to Sri Lanka.

 President of the Australia Sri Lanka Business Council Dilkie Perera chaired the forum. It was aimed at providing an update on the recent visit of the ministerial delegation headed by Minister for Tourism and Lands Harin Fernando and Chairman of the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau Chalaka Gajabahu.

 The consul general elaborated on the delegation’s visit to Perth, Sydney and Melbourne and the government’s proposed plan to increase the number of inbound tourists, including targeting middle to high income earning travellers and providing a more holistic travel experience in Sri Lanka.

 During the Q & A session, the participants raised matters of importance and made suggestions which the consul general agreed to convey to the relevant Sri Lankan authorities.
