Rev. Fr. Cyril Gamini Fernando, Director of Communications for the Archdiocese of Colombo, has rejected the report issued by the Committee of Inquiry chaired by retired High Court Judge A.N.J. De Alwis.
This statement was made in response to comments by Pivithuru Hela Urumaya (PHU) leader and former MP Udaya Gammanpila, who revealed the contents of the previously unreleased report on the Easter Sunday terror attacks during a press conference in Colombo yesterday (21).
Speaking at a press conference today (22) at the Archbishop’s House in Borella, Rev. Fr. Gamini expressed concerns over a conflict of interest, citing the committee chair’s familial ties to Prasanna De Alwis, who has been accused of concealing and destroying evidence in a murder investigation.
“A report produced under these circumstances cannot be considered impartial or independent,” Fr. Gamini said, adding, “We completely reject this report.”
