The Department of Railways has announced that the renovated Mahawa-Anuradhapura section of the Northern Railway Line will officially reopen on October 28.
Deputy Director of Traffic, M.J. Indipolage, stated that the installation of safety gates at railway crossings is currently underway. Once these installations are completed, train services along this route will resume as planned.
The reopening of the Mahawa-Anuradhapura section had been postponed multiple times due to delays in completing the signaling system.
