The Ministry of Health has issued a warning about a possible resurgence of dengue fever due to the recent increase in rainfall.
Health Ministry Secretary Dr. Palitha Mahipala stated that preventive measures are underway to control mosquito breeding and curb the spread of dengue in the Colombo, Kalutara, Gampaha, and Puttalam districts.
Currently, the Colombo district has reported the highest number of cases, totaling 10,558. Gampaha has recorded 4,978 cases, and Jaffna has reported 4,148 cases.
According to the National Dengue Control Unit, 20 dengue-related deaths have occurred this year, with a total of 41,960 cases reported nationwide.
