The Department of Meteorology has forecast several spells of showers today for the Western, Sabaragamuwa, North-Western, and Northern provinces, as well as the Galle and Matara districts.
Elsewhere on the island, showers or thunderstorms are expected in the evening or night. Some areas in the Uva and Eastern provinces may experience fairly heavy rainfall, with totals potentially reaching around 75 mm.
The public is advised to take precautions to reduce the risk of damage from localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
