President Anura Kumara Dissanayake met with Indian High Commissioner Santosh Jha yesterday (01) at the Presidential Secretariat in Colombo to discuss ways to strengthen the longstanding ties between Sri Lanka and India.
The conversation included a comprehensive review of Indian-assisted projects in Sri Lanka, addressing both progress and challenges, according to the President’s Media Division (PMD). Additionally, they discussed the ongoing fishing disputes in the Northern Sea, emphasizing the need for a long-term solution that respects the interests of fishermen from both nations and fosters cooperation.
President Dissanayake reaffirmed his commitment to safeguarding the Sri Lankan fishing community’s interests. He also expressed interest in leveraging India’s expertise in the power and energy sectors, as well as in digitalization, to advance these areas in Sri Lanka with Indian support.
Deputy High Commissioner Dr. Satyanjal Pandey was also present at the meeting.
