Former President Donald Trump has declared victory in the U.S. Presidential Election, according to foreign media reports. Early exit polls indicate that Trump is likely to secure critical swing states, including Pennsylvania, Georgia, and North Carolina, along with the populous states of Texas and Florida.
The United States, the world’s second-largest democracy by voter count, has 240 million registered voters, trailing only India’s 968 million. In the previous presidential election of 2020, 65.9% of registered voters participated.
Pre-election polls had shown a close race between Democratic candidate Vice President Kamala Harris and Republican candidate Trump, with both vying for a narrow advantage in key battleground states.
