A team from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), led by Senior Mission Chief for Sri Lanka Peter Breuer, will be in Colombo from November 17 to 23.
The visit aims to conduct the third review of Sri Lanka’s economic reform program, which is supported by the IMF’s Extended Fund Facility (EFF), according to an IMF spokesperson.
During their stay, the IMF team will evaluate the country’s economic policies, review the progress of ongoing reforms, and examine the implementation of previous agreements made with the IMF.
If the review is successfully completed, the IMF is expected to release the next tranche of the $2.9 billion Extended Fund Facility approved for Sri Lanka. This loan package, distributed over 48 months, is designed to support the country’s recovery from its economic crisis.
