IMF Discussions with Sri Lankan Officials to Continue Today

The Ministry of Finance has announced that discussions with representatives from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) are scheduled to continue today. Officials from the Central Bank and the Finance Ministry will also be participating in these talks.

Minister of Mass Media, Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa, stated that the progress of discussions held between President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and the IMF delegation will be presented at today’s (19) Cabinet meeting.

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake met with the IMF delegation yesterday (18) at the President’s Office to discuss strategies for Sri Lanka’s economic recovery. During the meeting, he emphasized the importance of a balanced approach to address citizens’ hardships and restore public trust. He also underscored the need to tackle pressing issues such as child poverty, malnutrition, and support for the differently-abled.

The IMF delegation, which arrived in Sri Lanka on November 17, began discussions with officials from the Ministry of Finance on the same day, focusing on the third review of the IMF program in Sri Lanka.
