The Meteorology Department has forecast heavy rainfall exceeding 100 mm today in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Northern Provinces, as well as in the Galle and Matara districts.
Thundershowers are also expected in the Northern and Eastern Provinces and other areas of the island during the evening or night.
Misty conditions may occur in some parts of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva, and Southern Provinces in the morning.
The public is advised to take adequate precautions to minimize damage from temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
