Lanka Sathosa Ltd has announced that tenders will be invited starting today to select suppliers for importing rice.
Chairman Dr. Samitha Perera stated that importers have a seven-day window to bring in stocks of rice. A total of 70,000 metric tons is planned to be imported in phases.
The imported rice is expected to reach the market before the festive season, ensuring adequate supply.
Dr. Perera confirmed that the rice stock will be distributed through Lanka Sathosa outlets, supermarkets, and wholesalers to meet consumer demand.
