More than 84,000 people from 21,353 families have been affected by the ongoing adverse weather conditions, bringing the total number of deaths to 16, according to Disaster Management Centre (DMC) Director Pradeep Kodippili.
He reported that six people were injured and five are missing due to the severe weather.
The fatalities were recorded in the districts of Ratnapura (5), Colombo (3), Matara (6), and Galle (2) since June 1.
Eight districts have been affected overall, with 77 people relocated to 77 safe locations. Additionally, six houses were completely destroyed and 1,214 houses sustained partial damage.
