The Meteorology Department reports that atmospheric conditions are favorable for afternoon thundershowers across most parts of the island.
Showers or thundershowers are expected to occur in many areas during the evening or night, with heavy rainfall exceeding 100 mm likely in some locations within the Uva, Eastern, Central, Sabaragamuwa, and North-Central provinces.
Additionally, showers or thundershowers may occur in a few coastal areas of the Northern, Eastern, and Northwestern provinces in the morning.
The public is advised to take necessary precautions to reduce the risk of damage from temporary localized strong winds and lightning during these thundershowers.
