Alarming Surge in Dengue Cases: Colombo Worst Affected

The latest data from the National Dengue Control Unit shows a troubling increase in dengue cases across Sri Lanka, with Colombo identified as the most affected district.

As of midnight on September 17, 2024, the total number of reported dengue cases has reached 38,246, resulting in 17 deaths.

Colombo district accounts for 24.9% of the total cases, with 9,515 reported. Other severely impacted districts include Gampaha with 4,399 cases (11.5%) and Jaffna with 4,087 cases (10.7%).
