Ali Zahir Moulana Seiyad has been declared elected as a Member of Parliament for the Batticaloa District to fill the vacancy created after Naseer Ahamed lost his seat.
The Election Commission published the Gazette Extraordinary No. 2353/52 today that Ali Zahir Moulana Seiyad has been declared elected as a Member of the Ninth Parliament for the Electoral District No. 12 – Batticaloa to fill the vacancy caused by reason of ceasing to be a Member of Parliament of Ahamed Zainulabdeen Nazeer.
Naseer Ahamed lost his Parliamentary seat after the Supreme Court determined that the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress’ decision to expel Minister Naseer Ahamad from the party membership is legally valid.
