All Arrangements Finalized for 2024 Presidential Election

District Returning Officers have confirmed that all necessary arrangements for the 2024 Presidential Election have been completed.

Colombo District Returning Officer, Prasanna Ginige, stated that preparations are in place for voting at 1,204 polling stations within the district.

Meanwhile, the Grama Niladhari Officers’ Association reported that they are currently preparing the polling stations, despite challenges related to financial allocations. According to Jagath Chandralal, General Secretary of the All-Island Grama Niladhari Officers’ Association, all Grama Niladhari officers are actively participating in these efforts.

In a related update, the Postal Department announced that voters who have not yet received their official ballot papers can collect them today (20th) and tomorrow (21st) from their local post office. Deputy Postmaster General, Rajitha Ranasinghe, stated that voters can obtain their ballot papers upon verifying their identity.

Additionally, the Chairman of the Elections Commission of Sri Lanka, R.M.A.L. Rathnayake, clarified that having an official ballot paper is not mandatory for casting votes.
